What is Strike Out Parkinson’s Day?
Strike Out Parkinson’s Day has two phases: fundraising and fun!
First, during the weeks prior to the event, individuals and teams of family, friends, and coworkers will raise money and make donations to the Greenville Area Parkinson Society. The team that raises the most money prior to April 27th will receive an award and the Team Manager will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch at Strike Out Parkinson’s Day.
Second, at Strike Out Parkinson’s Day on April 27th, the friendly competition moves to Fluor Field. There, team members will earn “runs” by participating in fun activities and events, including an opening ceremony and walk around the warning track at Fluor Field, corn hole, bocce, and trivia. In addition, there will be an opportunity to “score” by participating in a mini-class of Rock Steady Boxing and PWR! (Parkinson's Wellness Recovery). Other ways to earn “runs” include signing up to volunteer at future GAPS events, making donations on “game day,” and visiting our various sponsors’ tables to learn about their organizations. We will wrap up our activities with a 15-minute dance party led by a GAPS in Motion! instructor. At the end of the festivities at Fluor Field, the team that scores the most runs will be recognized as the Strike Out Parkinson’s Day champion!
Please be advised that Fluor Field will no longer allow purses, backpacks, etc. to be brought into the event space. Due to security and safety requirements, personal items now need to be in clear packages. We apologize for any inconvenience.
You can register for this event as an individual or as part of a team any time before April 27th. To register, simply click the REGISTER link on the Strike Out Parkinson’s Day page on our website. When you register, don’t forget to make a donation to support the Greenville Area Parkinson Society. All donations stay right here in Upstate South Carolina to support those living with PD.
Managing A Team and How to Score Runs....
Much like a baseball team, every Strike Out Parkinson’s Day team needs a good manager. As a team manager, you will first recruit family, friends, and coworkers to join your team and make donations to the Greenville Area Parkinson Society. The team that raises the most money prior to April 27th will receive an award and the Team Manager will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch at Strike Out Parkinson’s Day. During Strike Out Parkinson’s Day, your team members will have the opportunity to score runs by participating in fun activities, visiting sponsor tables, and making day-of donations. The Strike Out Parkinson’s Day championship team (and the individual who scores the most runs) will receive an award at the end of the event.

Sponsoring A Table....
Are you interested in promoting your business or organization at Strike Out Parkinson’s Day? If so, consider sponsoring a table at our event. Table sponsorship allows you to bring company/organization representatives to the event to set up your table and share information with attendees about the goods or services that you provide. The cost to sponsor a table is $1000, and this money directly assists those living with PD in Upstate South Carolina.
