GAPS offers a weekly adult Activities Day and Respite Care at the Phillis Wheatley Community Center where caregivers, spouses, friends, and family can drop-off their loved one every Wednesday between 9:30am - 12:00pm to participate in planned activities. This program provides an opportunity for a person with Parkinson's Disease to socialize and stay active while providing needed time away for the caregiver.
Trained staff is on-hand.
A screening process is required to sign-up. To schedule a screening time, email Shannon Vann at firstname.lastname@example.org or call, 864-905-2574.
Every week, GAPS facilitates local peer support groups for both the people with Parkinson’s and their care partners. These are offered at different locations around Greenville to accommodate members in all areas. These groups are a critical part of our community where members are able to share their challenges and triumphs as well as ask questions about symptoms, issues, and concerns from people who are walking a similar path. We encourage all members to find a group that suits their needs and plug in for encouragement and support.
Below is our schedule for Peer Groups each month. These four locations have break out sessions for the people with Parkinson’s in one session and the caregivers in another session. View full calendar.
